Veronica Irene Obirek, late of Chilliwack passed away at the Chilliwack General Hospital on April 18, 2004 at the age of 83 years. She was born July 1, 1920 in Cook’s Creek, Saskatchewan. Verna was a resident of Chilliwack since 1960.
Prayers will be held Thursday, April 22, 2004 at 6:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church.
Funeral Mass was held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church on Friday, April 23, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. Fr. Gary Gordon, Celebrant.
Casket Bearers: Ron Yustak, Dennis Hupka, Dale Gordon, Frank Kusmer, Harland Coles and Stephen Grey.
She is survived by her daughter, Marlene Larson (Dennis Hupka) of Chilliwack; 2 sons, John Obirek and Dale Obirek, both of Chilliwack; 5 grandchildren, Peter, Kyla, Jaret, Levi and Bailey; 3 great-grandchildren, Taylor, Bryce and Cordelia; 4 sisters, Stella Shaw of Ont., Ann Buness of Shawnigan Lake, Frances Gordon of White Rock, and Julie Kusmer of Surrey.
She was predeceased by her husband, Peter; special friend, Ewen Steele; 3 sisters, Rosalie Elias, Mary Gould and Jean Forrest.
Should family and friends so desire donations in her memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of B.C. and Yukon.
