Vera Kathleen CARNE

August 19, 2004

Vera Carne passed away at home in her sleep on Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004. She was born on June 4, 1919 in Winnipeg, Man., the great-great-granddaughter of Alex Setter, one of the original Selkirk Settlers.

She was predeceased by her parents, Alexander and Elsie Setter of Winnipeg, Manitoba.

She leaves behind Bill, her husband and soul mate of 62 years; her five children Bill of Ottawa, Judy (Clark) Christie of High River, Alta., Linda (Garry) Tharle of Mossleigh, Alta., John (Linda) Carne of Sardis, and Bev (Al) Grunau also of Sardis; her sister Ruth Toal of Winnipeg; 13 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren.

Vera’s legacy on earth would be her gift of service; service to her Church, the Girl Guides and any human need that crossed her path.

Her children have lost the person who has probably had the most influence on their lives. They are the people they are today because she has shaped and moulded their lives with her morals and convictions of what is right.

But this isn’t good bye. It is ‘see you again’ as our faith in Jesus has given us the knowledge we will meet again. Jesus has said He is going to prepare a place for His children, and Vera is there helping Him prepare for her many loved ones.

It is said that you come into this world with nothing and leave with nothing. We don’t consider that to be true. Vera came into this world with nothing — but will leave with a heart full of love and a mind full of good memories and experiences that God will use in His kingdom.

A Celebration of Life Eucharist service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Anglican Church, Sardis, with Fr. Fred Tassinari officiating. Cremation at Valley Crematorium.
