‘Joy’

(nee Godolphin)

Born Dec. 27, 1917 and passed away suddenly August 15, 2009.

Joy was born in Rainy River, Ont, and lived in Stonewall, MB, Rainy River and Winnipeg, MB. In 1940, she married John Penty and in 1945 they moved to Chilliwack.

Joy was predeceased by husband John in 1994 and son Graeme in 2007. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Roy) Crissman of Surrey, BC; grandson, Phil (Amy) Crissman of Minneapolis, Mn; granddaughters, Sharon (David) duChemin, of Vancouver, BC and Carlie Penty, of Langley, BC.; daughter-in-law, Deanna Daniel and step-grandchildren, Vanessa Daniel and Daniel Waterfall, all of Chilliwack; as well as many relatives and friends.

Joy was usually busy with some from of handi-work, bobbin lace making, quilting, knitting or sewing. She was a volunteer quilter for the Red Cross. Joy will be remembered for her love of life, positive outlook and great sense of humour.

A memorial service and tea will be on Wednesday, August 26, 1:00pm at the Lynnwood Retirement Residence, 9168 Corbould St., Chilliwack.

Donations may be made in Joy’s memory to the Red Cross, 9290 Mary St., Chilliwack, BC, V2P 4H4 or to a charity of your choice.
