Sept. 4, 1910 - Nov. 15, 2010

Thomas passed into the presence of his Saviour at the end of a long life of love and devotion to his Lord, and to his family – wife of 72 years, Mary, son David (Helen Ryding) and daughter Marie Harman, as well as grandchildren John (Ida Smith), Patrick, Sarah (Jon Kimmelman), Ruth (Alan Skiffington), Justine (Graham Fane) and Ian (Kelly), and great-grandchildren Hannah, Katie, Erin, Thomas, Jordan, Leigha, Jarrod and Eric. Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Thomas lived through the changing times of war and political upheaval with an abiding belief in the goodness and love of God. Having witnessed their children make new lives in Canada, “Minnie” and Tom also immigrated to British Columbia in April 1973, and gradually fitted into work and life in their adopted country. Active members of St. George’s Presbyterian Church in White Rock for many years, Tom and Min made many new friends in Canada while maintaining contact with old friends at Dunmurry Presbyterian Church in Northern Ireland. A business administrator of Eason’s in Ireland, and Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries, Thomas brought his skills to new “post-retirement” work in British Columbia. He passed on his personal values for leading an honest, thoughtful, upright, noble life to all around him. Family and friends helped him celebrate his 100th Birthday this year. Thanks are due to the dedicated caregivers of the Bradley Unit and of Chilliwack General Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, friends are invited to make donations to charitable organizations of their choice.

Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and sup with him, and he with me.
