Thomas Lionel COULTHARD

T. Lionel Coulthard, P. Eng (UBC ’35) Prof of Bio-Resource Eng and Prof Emeritus (UBC) Born, 1909 Abernethy, Saskatchewan.

Lionel died peacefully in his sleep April 27, 2006 at Cascades Care Home.

He is survived by his loving wife Suzanne Gibson Coulthard; son Marvin (Sue), grandchildren Tara, Lori (Paul), John (Tammy), Caitlyn; step family, David (April), grandchildren Jessica, Rachael, Erica, Anne (Ashley); grandchild, Carmen; nieces and nephews and numerous great-grandchildren.

Lionel will be remembered as an outstanding professor and researcher at UBC where he taught for over 30 years. Lionel also taught at the University of Accra in Ghana, where he presided as Dean.

He was active in his church and community and a great supporter of the arts. Lionel was an animal lover and an avid bird watcher and spent many happy hours in his garden on Saltspring Island.

He has been a string influence in the lives of the family and all those close to him. His great wisdom and sense of humor will always be with us.

Lionel will be sadly missed by his devoted family and many friends.

The family wishes to thank Dr. David Page and the staff of Cascades Care Home for their dedicated and loving care of Lionel for the past year.

A celebration of his life will be held at Chilliwack United Church, 45835 Spadina Avenue, Saturday, May 6th at 2:00 pm. Reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimers Society of B.C.
