Thelma Mary HUESKEN

November 4, 2002

Thelma Mary Huesken peacefully left this world to be with Jesus and to join the Heavenly orchestra on Monday, Nov. 4, 2002. Thelma was born in New Westminster on May 24, 1922, the youngest daughter of Wilfred and Elizabeth Mower.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Erwin, who will miss her very much.

Thelma also leaves behind a family which she has greatly impacted through her prayers, availability, and faithfulness, three children, Claudia (Victor) Janzen, David (Patricia) Huesken, and Paul (Beverly) Huesken, all of the Chilliwack area; eight grandchildren, Carl (Nicole) Janzen, Lisa (Mark) Steinebach, Lorilee (Richard) Niezen, Alicia, Christopher, Lindsay, Daniel, and Amy Huesken; and seven great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Cecily, Rachel, Olivia, Victoria, Jamison, and Samuel. Thelma is also survived by her sister, Gertrude Bennett of Burnaby.

Thelma was an accomplished violinist and played in many settings throughout the years. She enjoyed playing solos in retirement homes, for weddings and funerals, as well as playing with the Melody Ensemble. Thelma is looking forward to playing the Alleluia Chorus.

She enjoyed making home a welcoming and warm place, both in North Delta where the family lived for 25 years, and on the acreage in Columbia Valley where Erwin and Thelma settled in the 70s, and where she fed many a haying crew to the point where it was difficult for the crew to go back to work. Thelma was a lifetime member of the B.C. Angus Association, and a member of the Yarrow M.B. Church. She was very appreciative of her many friends - in the orchestra, the sewing circle in Yarrow, the folks at the Cultus Lake Memorial, and Yarrow M.B. Churches, and her longtime friends from North Delta.

Thelma continued to encourage others through her conversations and prayers while in the hospital with leukemia, reminding us of the things that really matter in life. We are truly thankful.

A viewing will take place at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2002.

A memorial service for Thelma will be at the Yarrow M.B. Church on Friday, Nov. 8, 2002 at 3 p.m. Following the service there will be a reception in the church hall. Private family interment will be at the Yarrow Cemetery.

If friends so wish, contributions may be made to the Yarrow Cemetery.
