Szczepan ‘Steve’ Kowalski on August 27, 2002, passed away peacefully in the loving arms of his wife and family, following a strong fight with lung cancer.
Born in Poland, December 10, 1921, he is survived by Pearl, his loving wife of 57 years; his son Edward; daughter Irene and her husband Bob; five adored granddaughters, Nicole (Iain), Tanis, Allison, Amanda, and Tara; and one special great-granddaughter Hannah. He is survived by an older brother; two older sisters; and a younger sister, all in Poland; and numerous nieces, nephews; as well as many close friends and neighbours. Steve was predeceased by his parents and two brothers in Poland.
Family was very important to Steve and his great joy was with family. His love of life and humour will be missed.
Prayers will be offered at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, 2002 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 8909 Mary St. in Chilliwack, with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 a.m. on Saturday, again at St. Mary’s. Rev. Gary Gordon, Celebrant. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
