It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Susan Kiss, our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend on February 9th, 2010.

Susan was born on April 18, 1922 in Hungary and came to Canada with her family at the age of two. Her parents homesteaded in the Spiritwood district of Saskatchewan. After the loss of her mother at the age of 13, she took on much of the responsibility of the household and care of her younger siblings. She moved to the Aldergrove district when she was 21 to help her father on his farm. There she met and married her husband John at the age of 23, and raised two wonderful boys, Norman and Ken. She was a devoted wife and mother.

Susan was a woman of great strength, steadfast patience, sharp wit and quick sense of humour. She cared deeply for the well being of others and gave freely of her time and energy. She was a hard working woman who kept the home fires burning while her husband was away working in the logging industry. She loved to entertain family and friends and was a fabulous cook. She also loved to do handcrafts, knitting, crocheting and sewing. Her garden and landscape were always meticulously manicured. She retired from her 10 acre farm north of Aldergrove in 1999 when she moved to Chilliwack to be near her family where she resided for ten years.

She leaves to mourn her son, Ken (Bernadine) Morris of Chilliwack, BC; grandchildren, Kevin (Kelly) Morris of Chilliwack, BC; Lindsay (Aaron) Parrott of Vancouver, BC; Kimberly Morris (Chris Houlden) of Chilliwack, BC; Shauna Taylor of BC; Ken Kiss of BC; and great-granddaughter Kaitlyn Taylor. She also leaves to mourn her sister Helen (Randy) Kroeker of Chilliwack, BC; brothers, Charles Szasz of Spiritwood, SK and James (Lorraine) Szasz of Ladysmith, BC; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 35 years, John Kiss in 1984; her son, Norman Kiss in 1975; her parents Gabor and Sophie Szasz and her siblings Gabor Szasz, Sophie Balla, Louie Szasz, Joseph Szasz, and Gordon Szasz.

Memorial services entrusted to Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home of Chilliwack, BC on February 15, 2010 at 1:00 pm. Interment at Aberdeen Cemetery in Aldergrove, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Susan is greatly loved and dearly missed by all of her family and friends.
