Stanley Morgan SCOTT

October 8, 2003

On October 8, 2003, Stanley Morgan Scott finished his work on this earth and crossed over to go fishing.

Stan was born at home in Verdun, Quebec on March 7, 1937 to Trudy and Clifford Scott. He is survived by Joan, his wife of 47 years; four sons, Jeff (Lore), Dan (Belinda), Robert (Janice), Andrew (Michele); ten grandchildren, Morgan, Darcy, Simon, Ella, Cameron, Tanner, Jessica, Travis, Drayton and Victoria; his mother, Trudy Rowan; two sisters Gwen (George, deceased) Rumsey, and Ruth (Walter) Furze; his brother, Michael (Patricia). Stan was predeceased by his father, Clifford, in 1975. Stan joined the Canadian Military Engineers in March of 1958 and retired as a Warrant Officer after 25 years of service. He joined in Ottawa and when he was told he would be stationed in Chilliwack, B.C., he took his shaving gear, his fishing rod and never looked back. He leaves behind many of his friends from the military and friends he fished and hunted with over the years. A Memorial Service will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 280, Vedder Crossing on November 7, 2003 at 1200 hours, with Padre Fred Tassinari officiating. The Ladies Auxiliary of Branch 280 will provide tea following the Service of Remembrance. Peter Somers will honour Stan with the Eulogy. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation, love and gratitude to the Nurses and staff of NU4 Palliative Department of the Chilliwack General Hospital. Your tender care and vigilance during his last stay at CGH will always be remembered. We know that Stan appreciated your efforts to keep him comfortable. Thank you to Drs. Dalton, Duplessie and Bull, to Lynn Walker, Linda Drage, Joan Weir, Debbie Wilson, Heidi Liebe, Judy Fitzsimmons and Darin Atrill. A very special Thank you to all of Stan’s friends who took the time to visit him even though he could not acknowledge, always, your presence. Especially to Dan Kanoke, Pete Somers, Howard Gordon, Ralph DeCoste, Cliff Downey, Patty Meager and Sharla Jones.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Stan’s name to the Oncology Department at the Vancouver Children’s Hospital, or to the Salmon Society at Chilliwack Dart and Tackle.
