It is with great sadness that the family of Sophia Mahyr, formerly of Agassiz and Chilliwack, and more currently of Willow Manor, Maple Ridge, announce her peaceful passing on January 11, 2006 a the age of 90 years.
Sophia Mahyr was born June 17, 1915 in the Ukraine. She immigrated to Canada in the late 1920’s and married Steve Mahyr who became her husband of 71 years.
Sophia is survived by five children; Eve, Joyce (Norm), Arlene (Boyce), John (Arden) and Rose (Patrick). She leaves behind a very loving extended family including 12 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Sophia was the matriarch and centre of her family and will be missed by all including many friends. Many thanks to the staff and friends at Willow Manor for their kind and generous spirits. They brought much joy to Sophia’s life.
Funeral service to be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Maple Ridge at 11:00 a.m. with tea service to follow. Interment to be held the same day at 1:30 p.m. at Little Mountain Cemetery in Chilliwack. We welcome all who loved her to join us in celebrating her life.
