Shelagh LOEWEN

December 30, 2009

Shelagh Anne (Walker) Loewen, a long-time resident of Penticton and lately of Chilliwack, passed away surrounded by her family on December 30, 2009 at Cascade Hospice in Chilliwack. Shelagh was born on May 26, 1932 in Penticton and is survived by her daughter Lin (Gordon) Heppner, her son Ron Loewen, grandsons Michael, Keith and Sam Loewen, brother Harvie (Doris) Walker, sister Charlotte (Jim) McFarland, sister-in-law Ruby Walker, her nieces and nephews and grand-dog MacKenzie. She was predeceased by her husband Willard, her parents Edgar and Florence Walker and her brother John Walker. Shelagh was involved with the Order of Eagles and Royal Purple, as well as the Okanagan Falls Heritage Society, the South Okanagan Fabric Artists Guild, the Tuesday Matters Rug Hooking group, and as a volunteer at the retirement centre. She enjoyed rug hooking, folk art and her many friends in Penticton, Chilliwack and her adopted province of Nova Scotia.

The family would like to thank Dr. Julia Bright and everyone at the Cascade Hospice for the care and compassion they provided Shelagh. We are also eternally grateful to Mom’s friend and neighbour Noelle LaFleche. The road would have been so much more difficult without all of you. No service will be held at Shelagh’s request. In memory of Mom and her many canine friends donations may be made to the BCSPCA in lieu of flowers. Online condolences can be left at www.hendersonsfunerals.com
