It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Ruth while in the care of the Cascade Lodge in Chilliwack.
A loving wife and mother, she is survived by her husband of 47 years Keith, her children Beverley (John), Robert and Ronald (Laurie), grandchildren Cheryl, Jason, Sonya, Kevin, Josh, Kara, Tyler, Aaron, and great-granddaughter Madison. She will also be sadly missed by all family and friends.
In her early years, Ruth enjoyed a successful career as an Executive Secretary in Toronto and then with Alcan Power Systems in Isle-Maligne, Quebec. That all changed when she met and married her handsome Airman in 1964. After several moves, including 4 years in Germany, she settled in Chilliwack in 1976 where she continued to raise her family. Her interests included her church, children, animals, reading, and helping those in need; but nothing was more important than her family.
She was predeceased by her father Robert Walter Menard, her mother Elizabeth Menard (Horton), her brother Frederick Menard and her sister Elsie (Betty) Stewart.
A funeral will be held on Monday, October 18th, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Chapel, 6300 Tyson Road, Chilliwack, BC with refreshments to follow from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. For those that wish to attend, an interment will follow at approximately 2:00 p.m. at the Legion Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Diabetes Foundation or the Cancer Society would be appreciated.
