Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on March 14, 1917, mom passed away peacefully on June 17, 2010 at her residence in Cheam Village, Agassiz, BC, following a brief illness.

Ruth was predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years, Jim, granddaughter Tula, and grandson Ted.

Mom is survived by her loving children Jean (Ron) Way of Richmond, BC, Barb (Don) Armstrong of Chilliwack, BC, Nancy Cameron of Vancouver, BC and Ian (Rhonda) Cameron of Armstrong, BC, her 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all.

A woman of the prairies, mom spent most of her life in Regina – loving her Riders, the family cottage at Lumsden Beach, and her many, many friends. She was a “mom” first – delighting in her family’s joys and successes, empathizing and comforting them in their sorrows and struggles. She was a true and loyal friend who valued the close and long-lasting friendships she formed in the various clubs in which she was a member, and was always an active community and church volunteer.

There are just not enough words to express our gratitude to the amazing staff at Cheam Village. Their kindness, compassion and excellent care of mom over the past year and a half made her feel happy and safe and for that the family will be eternally grateful.

To celebrate mom’s well-lived life, a graveside service for family and friends will be held at Chilliwack Cemeteries, 10010 Hillcrest Drive, Chilliwack, BC at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 23, 2010, followed by a reception at The Falls Golf Club, 8341 Nixon Road, Chilliwack, BC.
