Roy Clinton Barnes passed away peacefully at home in Revelstoke on January 10, 2009.

By Roy’s request, there will be no formal funeral service. Cremation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Revelstoke Humane Society, P.O. Box 340, Revelstoke, B.C. V0E 2S0, in memory of Roy.

Roy was born in Portsmouth, U.K. on December 6, 1918 to Cyril and Daisy Barnes. He spent 16 years in the British Army, four of those years as a P.O.W. at Stalag VIII B, Poland.

Roy and Joyce immigrated to Canada in 1953 where Roy was stationed at CFB Chilliwack until his retirement in 1977. Roy and Joyce moved to Revelstoke in 1990 where Roy enjoyed bowling, fishing and model boat building. Parkinson’s slowed Roy down physically, but not mentally.

Roy is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Joyce; four children: David (Arleen) Barnes of Chilliwack, Alison Cox of Revelstoke, Andrea (Bill) Brehl of Ottawa, Ian Barnes of Tatlayoko Lake; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his younger brother Terry (Tommy) Barnes of Nova Scotia.

Cremation arrangements were in the care of Brandon Bowers Funeral Home, Revelstoke.
