Rose was born in Fraser Mills, BC, on January 31, 1921 and passed away at Eden Care Centre on December 12th in Chilliwack, BC. She lived to a grand age of 88 years.
Her childhood life was spent mostly in the New Westminster area. Then she moved to the Rosedale area with her dad Albert who was prospecting for gold around Bridal Falls. There she met her future husband Raymond.
She is survived by her sons Harry (Castlegar, BC), Victor (Chilliwack); her sister’s daughter Annette Station (Chilliwack) and her daughter Elizabeth. Grandchildren include Tara, Julian, Nicole and Cheyenne Simoens. Great-grandchildren include Kailie and Ciaira Pettit.
Rose was predeceased by her sister Vera Calmusky in August 1967, her husband Ray in November 1996, and her son Ed in March 2009.
Her husband’s small dairy farm did not provide enough income to adequately support the family so she started a house cleaning business and worked for Fraser Valley Frosted Foods.
Rose did not have many hobbies except for embroidery work. For entertainment, she loved to go to Rosedale Community Hall and play bingo and met friends every Saturday evening.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Eden Care for their compassion and kindness to Rose over the years.
A Celebration of Life service for Rose will be held 2:00 pm on Monday, December 28th at Henderson’s Funeral Home, 45901 Victoria Ave., Chilliwack.
