We regret to announce the passing of Ron Swannie, age 89 years, in Chilliwack Hospital on Sept. 10, 2003, after a long battle with liver cancer.
Surviving are his loving wife Margurite “Peggy”, son Reg of Chilliwack, stepson Bob Burchill of Abbotsford, Joyce Aldred of Ladner, Eleanor Burchill of Courtnay, brother Glen of Coquitlam, as well as four grandchildren.
Predeceased by his first wife Marjorie in March 1982.
Born on May 12, 1914 in Quill Lake, SK. In his earlier years he was a Navy veteran and was well known as the Saskatoon Bee man, looking after 350 hives. He was also employed by Canadian Pacific Railway for close to 30 years. He left Saskatoon in May 1986, remarried and moved to Chilliwack where he has resided since.
A graveside serviCe will take place at Valley View Memorial Gardens, 14644 - 72 Ave., Surrey, B.C. on Thurs., Sept. 18, at 2:00 p.m.
Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in Ron’s memory.
