Rodney Raymond DELINE

August 21, 2004

Rodney Deline passed away in Chilliwack on August 21, 2004 at the age of 64. He was born in Kirkland Lake, Ont. on March 4, 1940. He came to B.C. in 1980 and worked as a brick layer.

He met his wife, Sylvia in 1983 whom he married in 1995. Due to illness he retired in 1997.

In February 2001 Rod and Sylvia moved to Victoria. His favourite hobby during his retirement was baking. There were always fresh apple pies and cookies at home for anyone who dropped in. They joined the Pacific Animal Therapy Society in Victoria. Rod’s greatest pleasure was taking his best friend Bogie to visit the Saanich Peninsula Extended Care Hospital. The residents always looked forward to their visits. In 2003 Rod and Sylvia moved back to Chilliwack.

During his last stay at the Chilliwack General Hospital Palliative Care unit, Bogie visited him daily. Rod’s eyes would light up when Bogie entered the room. During these visits Bogie became friends with many patients and Rod was so proud of the happiness Bogie brought them.

Rod is survived by his wife, Sylvia, of 21 years; daughter; Anita (Doug Humphreys) Deline of Grand Bend, Ont. and their children, Jordan, Parker, Miranda and Riley; daughter Kim (Pete) Deline of London and their child Lindsay; step-daughter Cindy (Rob Gratham) Best of Abbotsford and their children, Mitcheal and Amber; and step-son Kevin (Katie) Pryor of Kamloops and their children, Patricia, Douglas and Matthew. He is also survived by one sister Marilyn (Lawrence) Watrich of Mississauga, Ont.; and his very best friend, Bogie. He was a super father, step-father and husband.

An open house tea will be held in Henderson’s Tea Room on August 27, 2004 between 2 — 4 pm.

In lieu of flowers family and friends can make donations to the Pacific Animal Therapy Society in Rod’s name at 9412 Laurie’s Lane, Sidney, B.C., V8L 4L2.
