Boomer, to his many friends, was born in Chilliwack, January 26, 1938. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend on February 12, 2004 at Chilliwack General Hospital.
Bob passed peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Bob will be missed by his wife and best friend Myrt; son Brad (partner Kris); daughter Susan (husband John); grandchildren, Ryan (Biff), Lizzy, and Taylor, who all held a special place in his heart; sister Nita (husband Gus); and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was predeceased by his parents, Edith and Earl; and his sister June Castle.
Bob was well-known throughout the community and will be fondly remembered for his generosity and involvement in community events.
He founded Chilliwack Gravel Sales in 1978 and remained actively involved in the business and the industry throughout his illness. He was a member of the Chilliwack Rotary Club and a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellowship Award. He was a member of the Chilliwack Gravel Sales Mighty Trucks Hockey Team and a proud supporter and sponsor of the BCJHL Chilliwack Chiefs, as well as numerous minor and recreational sports teams.
At Bob’s request there will not be a funeral, but family and friends are invited to celebrate his life on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004 between 1-3 p.m. at the Rhombus Hotels and Resorts, 45920 First Ave., Chilliwack.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Chilliwack Hospital Extended Care Facility for their kindness and professionalism, also a special thanks to Dr. Gord Enns for always being there.
In lieu of flowers, donations, if desired, can be made to the Chilliwack Hospice Society Building Fund, c/o the Chilliwack General Hospital, so that others may experience the care and comfort that Bob did.
