Robert Thomas (Bob) Johnston

Bob passed away peacefully on June 30, 2017, surround by 5 of his 6 children at the Cascade Hospice House in Chilliwack, BC. Bob is survived by his wife Betty, his 6 children from his first wife Joan, Judi, Marilyn, Linda, Jeannette (Erwin), Luke (Sarah) and Doris, also his 4 step children of Betty, Karen (Dan), Kelly (Ron), Guy (Vicki), Lisa and numerous grand/great children. Bob was born December 13, 1934 in Langbank, SK. He moved out West at the tender age of 17, leaving the family farm. A few years later he and Joan started their family in Port Alberni. Working mostly in the logging industry on the Island and then moving the family up to Prince George in late 60's. He had logging shows and logged the West Coast to Ft. Nelson. Bob and Joan divorced and Bob made his way down to the Chilliwack area where he later married Betty and gave up logging for building roads and clearing land with his D8 CAT. Bob was part of the Chilliwack community for many years and was well liked and respected. He had countless cousins, friends and relatives he loved to visit with and help out when he could. He always had an open door policy and breakfast on the stove for any who would wander in. He constantly made sure the neighbourhood cats had food and water and a dry place to stay should they happen to come by (which was every day - go figure!). Service will be held on Sunday, July 9th at 2pm at The Landing Sports Centre, (The Loft), 45530 Spadina Ave., Chilliwack, BC. In lieu of flowers, Bob would have appreciated as does the family, donations to be made to his daughter, Jeannette, for her cancer treatments. Made to either her Go Fund Me Jeannette Wiens account, or by email transfer to ejwiens@gmail.com. Bob will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
