(George Richard)

July 25, 1960 – Oct. 9, 2010

It is with great sadness we announce that Rick Gale passed away suddenly in Indian Head, Saskatchewan on Oct. 9, 2010.

Rick was born in a British Military Hospital in Iserlohn, Germany on July 25, 1960. Being the son of a military man meant several moves during his younger years. The family settled in Chilliwack, B.C. in 1970, following the death of his father, Cpl. Eugene Gale. Rick finished his schooling and spent his early years in various jobs such as millwork, automotive work, welding, bartending, moving & storage, computer repair, taxi driver, and eventually long haul trucking which he enjoyed most of all.

Rick also enjoyed travelling, camping, darts, and spending time with family and friends.

Rick loved to help his neighbours and friends and spent many years as a member of the executive of Anavets - unit 305. This year he was voted in as club president. He enjoyed this role immensely as it gave him a sense of fulfillment.

Rick was predeceased by his father, Eugene Gale in 1969.

He is survived by his mother, Edna Gale; sister, Sandy (Ron) Gerbrandt; brother, Rob; son, Robbie Callender; grandchildren, Blaine and Ryanna; nieces Lisa (Rod) Halsall and Mandy (Patrick) Santos; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Rick is loved and will be missed by family and friends from coast to coast.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, October 18th, 2010 from 1:00 – 1:30 p.m. from Henderson’s Funeral Home, 45901 Victoria Avenue, Chilliwack. Service to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association.
