Richard Peter BEATY

September 8, 2003

He fought to stay with us but Jesus took him by the hand. So it is with great sadness his family wishes to announce the passing of Richard Peter Beaty, late of Chilliwack, on Monday, Sept. 8th, 2003 in the Chilliwack General Hospital surrounded by his family, at the age of 55 years.

He was born Feb. 19, 1948 at Brampton, England. He came to Canada in 1972 and started his own masonry company (R.B. Masonry Ltd), which has set the highest in standards in the masonry field for the past 30 years and is now carried on by his son, Dominic.

Richard returned to England in 1974 where he married Maureen Scott. They both returned to Canada together. He had a true entrepreneurial spirit and invented many products in his lifetime. He loved to be in the outdoors, fishing and hunting with his sons. Special memories were locked in his heart of those times together.

Richard was well known for his great sense of humour and his infections laugh.

He is survived by his loving wife Maureen and his three sons, Joe, Jonathan and Dominic, his mother Mary Beaty of Sardis, brother John (Dorothy) Beaty of Chilliwack, sister Maureen (Alan) Ogilvie of Oakville, Ontario, brothers in Carlisle, England, Thomas (Mary), Robert (Sheila), mother-in-law Olga Scott of Chilliwack, brother-in-law Kenneth Scott of Morecambe, England and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Thomas Beaty and father-in-law John Scott.

He will be sadly missed by all and loved forever. Prayers were said at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, 8909 Mary Street on Sept. 11, 2003 at 7:00 pm.

Mass of Christian Burial was on Sept. 12th, 2003 at St. Mary’s R.C. Church at 10:00 am with Father Eugenio Aloisio, Celebrant.

Burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery followed by tea in St. Mary’s Hall. Casket bearers were Larry Corbett, Jim O’Brien, Tony Rogac, Ken Scott, Ken Mills and Sev Samulski.

If people so wish donations may be made in Richard’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or to St. John Brebeuf High School.

The family would also like to extend their sincere thanks to Father Gary Gordon for his visits that Richard loved and appreciated so much, to our special family doctor, Dr. Quentin Smith, the wonderful staff at Palliative care 4th Floor CGH and SPN Ian, Home IV Unit CGH and Home Care Nursing, especially Carol Ann, for their support and loving care.
