Richard (Dick) RENZ

May 23, 2006

Richard “Dick” Renz passed away on May 23, 2006 at Chilliwack General Hospital at age 86 years. He was born September 16, 1919 in Romania.

Dick immigrated to Canada with his four sisters and two brothers in 1927. His family farmed in Alberta before moving to Rosedale in 1937. Dick joined the Canadian Scottish Regiment in 1941 and took part in the D-Day landing on Juno Beach, Normandy.

Dick is remembered for his love of hunting, fishing and cooking; stuffed green peppers were his specialty. He had many a tale to tell about the war, the moose that got away or adventures at the fishing hole.

He was always there to lend a hand to friend or neighbour. He liked to tell jokes and always kept his sense of humour.

Dick will be very missed by all whose lives he touched and those who were privileged to know him.

Dick is survived by 4 children; Mona (Vancouver), Marie, Bruce and Douglas (Chilliwack); 2 grandchildren Daniel (Grande Prairie) and Kyla (Chilliwack) and his sisters, Vera Noel and Julia deKoning. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mildred in 1976 and 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
