“Wade”

Wade was born in Chilliwack on March 22, 1964 and passed away November 20, 2010 with his family by his side.

Wade is survived by his loving wife Ellen, daughter Marina, sons Joshua (Karin) – much loved grandbaby Ariel, Richard and Brian Vickers, mother Lynda, father Raymond, brother Cory (Leah) - Cassidy & McKenzie, sister Kim (Dwayne) - Dyllan, Austin, Arianna, Ethan & Kaiden, sister Carmen (Chris) – Brooke, Keanu (Wade) and Godmother Diane. Wade is predeceased by his granddad, Harvey and his Aunt Dee Dee

In January 2010 Wade was diagnosed with a brain tumor, Glioblastoma Multiforme Astrocytoma grade 4. Wade decided he would not let the cancer take him “hostage”, instead he made a “bucket list” and through treatments, surgery and radiation, Wade continued to live life to the fullest. In February, Wade and his uncle John went to Daytona 500; he went to the Grand Canyon and Monument Valley with Ellen on their Harleys, having an epic journey and riding the open road.

Wade was a family man, nothing was more important to him than family and good friends. It was this love, strength and determination that kept him with his family and friends, far longer than many doctors predicted.

The family would like to give thanks to Dr. Josh Olson at Chilliwack General Hospital and all the doctors and nurses in Emergency at ARHCC, along with Jayne, Paul, Terry and Randy, to name a few in the Palliative Unit. Dr. Chan, Dr. Murphy, Dr. Hsu, Dr. Bolton and a special warm thank-you to our family physician Dr. Robert Brown and Karie, who always made time for our family; along with great admiration to Irene, Wade’s favorite “Boss”.

In lieu of flowers, donations in the Memory of Wade Silbernagel to Canuck Place Children’s Hospice would be greatly appreciated. A web page is being developed under Wade’s name; donations will be accepted online at http://tinyurl.com/wadesilb. Donation envelopes will be available at the funeral which will be held on Saturday, November 27th at 3 pm at St. John’s Anglican Church, 46098 Higginson Road, Sardis, corner of Higginson/Stevenson, with a reception following the service. Dress is casual, Wade requested everyone to wear jeans and a Harley t-shirt if you have one.
