It is with saddened hearts to announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather on Friday, Jan. 24, 2003 in the Chilliwack General Hospital. Ray was born on May 27, 1928 in Glace Bay, N.S. and spent a year of active duty in Korea in 1952-53. Upon his discharge in 1960, he worked at Base Chilliwack as a civil servant until he retired in February 1990.

Ray is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 49 years, Helen; sons, Ken (Debbie) of Innisfail, Alta., and Doug (Diane) of Abbotsford; daughter Debbie Ahl of Aldergrove; eight granddaughters, Sarah, Jennifer, Lisa, Karissa, Candace, Courtney, Meagan, and Helen; brother Gerry (Nita) of Nova Scotia; and many nieces and nephews in Nova Scotia, Cape Breton, and Alberta.

Ray was predeceased by his mother Julia in June 1936; father James in January 1955; brothers, James Jr. in March 1991, Aubrey in October 1995, and Cyril (Sibby) in July 1999.

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003 at 3 p.m. from the chapel of Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home with Rev. Angus Haggarty officiating. A reception will follow in the tea room. By request cremation will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
