Born at home in North Kamloops, BC on the 9th of May 1924, Rae Ellsay passed away in Chilliwack General Hospital on May 14, 2004.
Rae, the beloved husband of Ann for 56 years was predeceased by his parents and older brother, Don (Virginia).
He is survived by his younger brother, Walley (Sylvia); three children, Diane (Greg) Pernitsky of Chilliwack, Alan (Lynn) Ellsay and Valerie Henderson all of Kamloops. He was grandfather to nine and uncle to many nieces and nephews across Canada.
Rae earned a B. Ed. Degree in Art from the University of British Columbia. He has been teaching art and working with pottery students and production potters since 1957. His “pots” can be found in homes and offices from Victoria to Ottawa. He always found clay in motion on a potter’s wheel to be fascinating.
Rae will be laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery in Kamloops. A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be announced at a later date. No flowers by request.
