Polly DETCHKOFF

August 13, 2004

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Polly Detchkoff on August 13, 2004.

One of five daughters born to John Marken and Winnie Postnikoff, Polly was born in Slocan Park on October 13, 1940 and grew up in Vallican.

After she finished school, she married Gus Detchkoff of Crescent Valley, and they later moved to the Fraser Valley, making Harrison Hot Springs their home, where they raised their two children.

Later, Polly faced the challenge of raising her sons on her own, working in the hospitality industry to support them. She enjoyed her career, where her outgoing and friendly personality shone. In her spare time, she loved visiting with friends and family. Her passions were painting, and hours of bird watching. But she also loved to cook and prepare food, especially for her many friends and family.

Polly became ill suddenly and lost her battle in the Chilliwack General Hospital with friends and family by her side.

She is survived by her two sons Leslie Peter and Lennard Gordon (Suzanne), and her two grand children “Erin” and Curtis, as well as by her sisters Winnie, Nancy, and Anne. She is predeceased by her parents and eldest sister Laura.

A family service in celebration of her Life will be held at Slocan Park Cemetery, October 9, 2004. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Polly’s memory to the Canadian Liver Foundation, BC/Yukon Region, 109-828 W. 8th Avenue, Vancouver, V5Z 1E2.

Thank you to Henderson’s Funeral Home, Chilliwack, 604-792-1344.
