Phyllis passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at Chilliwack General Hospital, Chilliwack, BC at age 80. She was born on Friday July 13, 1928 in Nakina, Ontario, the fifth of eight children.
Phyllis (mom, ‘Beatrice’ Nana, ‘Grapes’) is survived by her daughter Karen McGourty (Jack) of Kitimat; and son Dr. Robert Kent (Sue Breeze) of Windsor, Ontario and Barriere, BC; her six grandchildren: Stephanie Jeffrey (Steven), Tanya Pinto (Mario), Erin LaPointe (Shayne Gait), Summer Breeze-Kent (Cam MacLeod), Chelsea Breeze-Kent (Jesse Rutherford) and Tristan Breeze-Kent (Katrina). Phyllis was the loving and proud great-grandmother of Parker, Alexandra, Evan, Declan, Tyrell and Russell. She will be mourned by her siblings Bob Kobierski of Victoria, BC, Bette Ann Strachon (Graeme) of Campbell River, BC and Laurie Andrews (Wayne) of Prince George, BC.
She was loved and will be missed by many nieces, nephews, adopted in love family and friends including Bob and Marge Kern of Chilliwack.
Phyllis was predeceased by two weeks (June 3, 2009) by husband of 62 years, George Kent; by her parents Michael and Annastasia Kobierski; brothers: Michael (M.J.) and Neil Kobierski and sisters Marg Hietenan and Mae Smolder.
Mom and Dad continued to love, miss and mourn their beautiful son, David Kent who died in 1998 and now they are reunited.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 12 noon at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Chilliwack. A viewing will be held on Friday, June 26, 2009 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Henderson’s Funeral Home in Chilliwack.
Memorial Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Cancer Research organization of your choice or to the B.C.P.W.A Vancouver.
