Phyllis Elizabeth “Betty” (McCracken) armstrong

August 20, 2007

The family of Betty Armstrong sadly announce her passing on Monday, August 20, 2007. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Harold; two daughters, Pat (Dennis) Pinske and Su (Gord) Gairns; five grandchildren - her ‘dear little souls” - Beverley, Cherilyn, James, Denise and Rob as well as their partners; two great-grandchildren, Mikayla and Evan, as well her sister Joyce (Howard) Snow and brothers Jack (Anne) and David (Louise) McCracken.

Mum & Dad made their home in Princeton as newlyweds. They later moved to Richmond where they lived for 40 years until their retirement in Chilliwack 14 years ago.

Mum taught kindergarten for several years and then went on to work for CP Air (later Canadian Airlines). She loved sharing time with her family and friends, travelling the world, dancing to old-time fiddling music, gardening, knitting, and canning.

Mum suffered a stroke the day after her 81st birthday while at the annual family gathering at Winfield. She was surrounded by loved ones during her eight day hospital stay. We wish to express our thanks to the caring, compassionate staff at the Kelowna General Hospital.

A memorial service was held at Kamloops United Church.
