Peter died suddenly, and tragically, in early January at his residence in Coquitlam, BC.

Peter will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his sisters Elenor Fawcett (Chris Fawcett and their son Colby) and Katherine Markus, stepmother Ann Burdon (Bill), stepfather Jim Eely (and sons Steve and Keith), grandmothers Margaret Markus and Eunice Ashworth, grandfather Sigmond Markus (Agnes) and aunts, uncles and cousins.

Peter was born in Toronto, On. His parents Julius and Janet Markus and Peter moved to Vancouver soon after that. His parents separated in 1975. Peter lived in the Vancouver area until 1989 when he joined his father, stepmother and sisters in Chilliwack where he lived until 1999 when he moved to Coquitlam. Peter continued to spend a lot of time in Chilliwack with his family and numerous friends. He was predeceased by his father (1999) and his mother (2005).

Peter graduated from Sardis Secondary in 1990. Peter worked at a number of construction related jobs until proudly following his father into floorlaying in 1997. He spent his entire floorlaying career at Beatty Floors in Vancouver.

He shared a love for camping, cats, dogs, motorcycles and mud racing with his family. He spent a great amount of time together with his father building, and racing, mud racing trucks. Peter began racing as soon as he could put a truck together. Peter called his first race vehicle “Tazrific” named after his favourite cartoon character.

In 1997 Peter created the “Hairy Canary Junior” (renamed the Hairy Canary in 1999 in his father’s memory) which he continued to race right up to present.
