Patricia LEAVENS

Patricia Leavens late of Chilliwack, passed away peacefully at Valley Haven on December 20th, 2006 at the age of 86. She was born April 2, 1920 in Chilliwack, British Columbia where she lived her entire life.

Pat is survived by her brother Daniel Leavens of Chilliwack and her nieces, Barbara Presseau (John), Kathleen Parsons (Robert), Nancy Howden (Alex) and her cousin Stan Ross (Lillian) of Chilliwack. She is predeceased by her mother Charlotte Emily Leavens in 1979 and father Hiram Kenyon Leavens in 1949.

Pat was a lover of nature. She enjoyed outdoor hikes and was thrilled when she spotted any animals from deer to racoons. Her favourite places were Mt. Baker and Mt. Cheam. Pat was an accomplished swimmer and was the first woman to swim the length of Cultus Lake (in the mid 30’s). She taught swimming lessons for many years in the Cultus and Chilliwack area and in 1942 she was the Provincial Women’s Breast Stroke Champion. Pat loved to collect things and she spent many hours doing handy crafts. Her home was always full of interesting objects from rocks to ornaments to handmade lamps.

There will be a memorial service held at the Chapel of Henderson’s Funeral Home on January 26th, 2007 at 11 am. Should family and friends so desire they may make a donation in Patricia Leavens name to any charity of their choice.
