Patricia, Ethel CUMBERLAND

Pat Cumberland, aged 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 17th after a brief battle with cancer. Born March 15th 1924 in Fatfield, Durham County, England, she lived through the London Blitz and the devastation of Croydon in WWII as a teen. In 1959 they immigrated to Canada, where they settled in Coquitlam, moved to New Westminster, then later to Langley. In 2000, Pat and Paul moved to Chilliwack.

Pat is survived by her husband Paul of 90 yrs, sons Peter (Susan) and David (Fran), grandchildren Christopher and Sarah. Still residing in England are siblings Stanley, Valerie, Marjorie and Elaine with their families. Pat and Paul recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on September 28th, 2006.

Mom worked for the Department of Highways through the 60’s and 70’s and then took over the Air Cadet League of Canada, BC Committee office for many years and both Pat and Paul were very well known in the Air Cadets. Pat made such a wonderful impression on all she met, and she will be greatly missed.

A gathering of friends and family will be held at the Cottonwood Village Retirement Community hall in Chilliwack on Sunday, December 3rd from 1:00 to 5:00 to celebrate her life. Donations may be made to the Cancer Society.
