Oskar LITZ

March 6, 2005

Oskar Litz, age 87, of Chilliwack, passed away at the Eden Intermediate Care Centre on March 6, 2005 after a lengthy illness.

Oskar was born in Neuburg in The Ukraine on April 25, 1917. He emigrated to Germany in 1944 where he lived with his family until 1950. In 1950 he came to Canada, settling in Yarrow, B.C. He worked briefly as a labourer; but soon took up farming as his vocation.

His passion was building and he built a number of new homes in his lifetime. His passion continued into retirement and he could always be found in his workshop or garden.

Oskar loved to dance and was always ready for a good party. He was a devoted family man who always placed his family first. He will be sorely missed.

Oskar had a long and active life until Cancer and Diabetes took hold. He suffered greatly, without complaint until the end. We are grateful to God for ending his suffering and taking him to a better place where he will be rejoined with family members and friends who predeceased him.

Visitation will be held at Henderson’s Funeral Home, Chilliwack on Saturday, Mar. 12, 2005 at 10 a.m. followed by a service at 11 a.m. Pastor Dan Rempel officiating. Cremation, Valley Crematorium, Chilliwack

Oskar is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jakobine (nee Green); son, Hugo, wife Marjorie and their son, Jim; son, Bruno, wife Cathy, their son Wayne and their daughter Colleen.

Should family and friends so desire, donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Prostate Cancer.
