Norma Margaret Bailie (olson)

January 1, 2007

Norma Margaret Bailie Olson passed away on January 1, 2007 at Chilliwack, BC at age 94 years. She was born November 23, 1912 in Halliday, North Dakota, USA.

Norma is survived by her 5 daughters, Joy, Charlene, Myrna, Barbara and Elenore and 2 sons, Bill and Russell, their spouses; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren as well as a younger brother, sister, 2 half-brothers, 1 half-sister and many nieces and nephews.

She was born Norma Margaret Callison in1912 in North Dakota and traveled with her family by covered wagon and train to the Peace River area of Northern British Columbia when she was one year old. Her mother, father, their five sons, and four daughters were true pioneers.

In 1933, she met and married Charles Bailie and in 1935, they moved to Southern BC and eventually settled in Hope where they raised their family of five daughters and two sons. They retired to Chilliwack where Charlie died in 1970. Norma’s life is defined by her love for her Saviour, Jesus Christ, and the love for her family. She was always very active in her church, Women’s Institute, Christian Women’s Club and various other community organizations. Wherever there was a need, she was there and volunteered her time and energy sacrificially. Two of her passions were Scrabble and shells. On the last day of 2006, attended by family, she peacefully prayed and went to sleep and on the first day of 2007 she awoke in her Heavenly Home “ and so shall she ever be with the Lord”.
