(nee Baker)

After a long and courageous battle with Cancer our Mother Noreen Sabo  passed away peacefully in her sleep at Cascade Hospice on November 4, 2008.

Noreen is survived by her four children: Dale (Waneta) Sabo, Eileen (Jack) Liable, Beverly Wedler, Leila (Jim) Calvin; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, as well as one brother Ralph Baker and three sisters Grace, Leona, and Geraldine.

Noreen is predeceased by her parents John and Margret Baker, Her loving husband Steve Sabo in 1997, and brothers Harold and Roy Baker.

Noreen was born on May 28, 1930 in Lipton Saskatchewan. She spent most of her young life on the family farm on the prairies and later in BC. In 1951 she married the love of her life Steve Sabo and they made their home in the Sardis area. From their home on Keith Wilson road they raised their four children.

Noreen spent many years working at the old Berryland Plant before retiring in 1981 to enjoy life looking after her many grandchildren and working on her fabulous flower and vegetable gardens.

Noreen was active in TOPS and was proud of her achievements and was thankful for the many friends and memories she forged during her time in TOPS.

Noreen later enjoyed the friendships she forged in the bereavement groups she attended after the passing of her husband.

Mom had a contagious laugh and a positive attitude. She was often seen walking and enjoying the sunshine. She always stopped to talk to everyone on the way. She will be missed by all that knew her.

We would like to thank all the wonderful staff at the Cascade Hospice who took great care of Mom during her stay. A very special thank you to Dr. Bull for all his care.

A celebration of Moms life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2008 at the Ascott Estates Club House (7455 Huron St.) from 1 – 3 pm.

In lieu of flower, donations can be made in Noreen’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
