Muriel Winifred TOWNSEND

March 27, 2004

March 16, 1916-March 27, 2004

We regret to announce the death of Muriel Winifred Townsend (nee Chave) in Vernon, in her 89th year.

Muriel lived a full and varied life. She was an accomplished pianist and former history teacher, first in Fernie, then Chilliwack, prior to her next successful careers as as farm wife, mother, and substitute teacher, and top-notch square dancer. World travel as a child gave her an open and broad-minded view of the world around her, and also gave her great appreciation for all she met throughout her life.

Muriel is predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Bill, in 1997; and her brother Cyril.

She will be greatly missed by a son Devon of Maple Ridge; two daughters, Mirium Bowles of Lake Country, and Julia Lissau of Vernon; seven grandchildren; cousin Dorothy in Toronto, Ont.; and her niece Rosalind of Vancouver; (not to mention the chocolate makers industry!)

A private family celebration of her life will be held after cremation.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in her memory to a local Environment Society, 3300-37th Ave., Vernon, B.C. V1T 2Y5, or the Sierra Legal Defence Fund, 214-131 Water St., Vancouver, B.C. V6B 4M3, to aid their achievements in environmental protection.

Arrangements in care of Vernon Funeral Home, 250-542-0155.
