Milton John Siemens (Milt) as born in Hepburn, Saskatchewan October 17, 1927 and passed away peacefully July 29, 2017 at Chilliwack General Hospital after a brief illness. Milt made many connections throughout his working years at the CNR station in Chilliwack and was well known to many. He had a great passion for music and found great enjoyment playing his Banjo or Mandolin. His primary focus was on the care of his family –even in his last days his attention was always centered around how others were doing. Milton had also always been involved in serving others either through the United Church in Chilliwack through A.O.T.S. (As One That Serves), The Salvation Army Soup Kitchen or Sardis Fellowship Baptist Church. He also enjoyed playing music with fellow musicians at various care homes throughout his retirement years as well. Although growing up in the lean depression years instilled in Milton a strong culture of thrift he was very generous in giving to the less fortunate, to the Church and to his sons Cal and Don. Milton is survived by wife Anne Siemens, son Cal Siemens (Karin), Daughter in law Susan Martineau, Grandchildren Trevor Maxwell (Andrea), Alyssa Maxwell (Kyle Brownlow), Jordan Martineau, Shannon Glover, Mallory (Martineau) and Brett Callahan, Colin Martineau –all in Nebraska. Great Grandchildren Eric Maxwell, Karra Maxwell, Gavin Glover, Brody Glover- also many nieces and nephews. Milton was predeceased by parents John and Helena Siemens, brothers Abe, Len, Ruben, Edward, Allen, sister Elvira (Yano) and step son Donald Martineau. Services for Milton Siemens will be held at Sardis Fellowship Baptist Church, 45187 Wells Road on Friday August 4, 2017 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made to the Sardis Fellowship Baptist Church. Special thanks to the caring professionals at Chilliwack General Hospital especially Rob, Kerstin and Brett on ward 5 North who insured Milton’s last days were in comfort.
