Passed away July 4, 2004, age 84, at Heritage Village Care Home with family by his side.
Michael was born in Central Ukraine near the Alexandria District. He came to Canada in October of 1947 and resided in Fort William, Ont., where he worked in a sawmill and grain elevator.
He moved to Chilliwack in 1953 and worked as a maintenance man at The Royal Hotel and then The Empress Hotel until 1978.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth; daughter Anne (Rick) Schellenberg; grandchildren, Michael, Tony and Mark of Chilliwack; son, George (Sonya) Chayka; grandchildren, Nikki, Katie, Michael and Travis of Burnaby; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Chilliwack Hospital ECU, Heritage Village Care Home, and Dr. Quinn for their kindness and helpfulness during his care and passing.
A Service of Remembrance will be held Saturday, July 10, 2004 at 2 p.m., Salvation Army Community Church.
