Martha Agnes CARTER

(nee Armstrong)

At Bradley Extended Care Centre, Chilliwack on June 9, 2007 at the age of 87. Born in  Winnipeg, MB, daughter of the late Frederick Earnest Armstrong and Mary Hill (Ramsey) McKie.

Beloved wife of the late Robert Douglas Carter (1993).

Predeceased by her brother Thomas Armstrong (1993),and her sister Margaret O’Connor (2005).  Dearly loved by nieces Robin O’Connor (Pat Copps) California, and Maureen Chandler (Keith) Chatham, Ontario, nephews Rod (Diane) Chatham Ontario and Richard (Amber Leeson) O’Connor (Calgary) and great-nephews, Craig and Kevin O’Connor, and Caise (Julie) Chandler.

Agnes worked for the Douglas Aircraft company during WWII and later with the T. Eaton Co. in Winnipeg. She met Bob through her brother Tom before the war, but they did not marry until 1962 after Bob mustered out of  the Royal Canadian Navy.

They set up house in Haney, where Bob worked at Haney Correctional, Maple Ridge and finally Chilliwack. She was a member of the Branch #88 Royal Canadian Legion and Discovery, Vancouver.

As per Nan’s wishes, there will be a private family service and cremation, and internment with her beloved Bob. Donations can be given to the Diabetes Foundation or a charity of your choice.
