Mark Edward FAIRLEY

Mark Edward Fairley passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, April 19, 2006.

Predeceased by parents, James and Helen (MacLauren) Fairley, sister, Anne (Repp) and grandson, Braeden Edward Fairley.

Mark is survived by his loving wife, Joyce, son, Mark Edward (Bree), grandsons, Russell and Adam, sister, Joan (Jim) Brown, brother, Neil (Evy) and many other family, friends and his beloved dogs, Brig O’Doon Mist and Ceilidh.

Mark was born September 21, 1936 in Calgary, Alberta and moved to Victoria, B.C. with his parents in 1948. After graduating from Oak Bay High School he was accepted for pilot training in the RCAF. Mark’s career in the RCAF included tours of duty with numerous fighter squadrons in Canada and Germany and later as a test pilot in Ayr, Scotland.

Mark finished his military career at NATO headquarters, Brussels, Belgium. Of all the different aircraft Mark flew, his fondest memories were of the CF 104 Starfighter, on which he flew over 2000 hours.

When Mark retired to Chilliwack, B.C. he worked for several years at the local RCMP detachment.

Service of Remembrance will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church, 46098 Higginson Road, Sardis, on Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. Father Fred Tassinari officiating. Cremation, Henderson’s Funeral Home and Crematorium.

Interment of cremated remains to follow in Vedderview Cemetery.

Should family and friends so desire, donations to B.C. Children’s Hospital in memory of Braeden Edward Fairley and his grandpa, Mark Edward Fairley.
