Marjorie Helen Herron

January 17, 2002

Marjorie Helen Herron passed away peacefully in Chilliwack on June 17, 2002. Madge was born at Cheam on December 2, 1917, the only child of Chilliwack pioneers Jean Knox and Bruce Ryder.

She married David Herron in 1936 and they lived in the Chilliwack area, Hope, New Westminster, and White Rock before retiring to Chilliwack in 1974.

Madge was a uniquely talented seamstress who worked from her home. She was a tireless worker whose hands were never idle. Madge particularly enjoyed visiting with and entertaining her beloved family and many friends, and was always happy if the visit involved a game of crib. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, godmother, and friend, and a treasured confidante to many.

Madge was predeceased by her husband Dave in 1985. She is survived by her daughter Brenda (Milt) Sharpe; grandchildren, Andrew, Brian (Lea), Heather (Dylan Cuff), Colin (Andrea), and Darren (Janelle); and great-grandchildren, Steven, Blake, Breanne, Ryan, Jaguar, McCartney, and Caedan.

A private family service will be held at Chilliwack Cemeteries, followed by a Memorial Tea to celebrate her life in the Tea Room at Henderson’s Funeral Home in Chilliwack on Saturday, June 22, 2002 between 1-3 p.m. If friends so desire, donations to the Chilliwack Hospice Society would be appreciated.

“Grandma” lived life to the fullest and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
