Marinus Schryver was born Oct. 3, 1929 in Krabbendijke Zeeland The Netherlands. He passed away February 25, 2010 in Agassiz, B.C.

Before immigrating from the Netherlands, Marinus spent time doing farm custom work, training horses and driving truck. He married Elizabeth in Feb. 1952 and together they  immigrated to Canada in April 1952.

After working for farmers and Sardis Explosives he bought his farm on Prairie Central Road in April of 1970. During the next years he worked at East Chilliwack Co-op while he made improvements to the farm.

After Elizabeth passed away, Marinus met and married Corrie in March of 1983. Together they continued farming, later joined by their grandson Mark.

Retired in 2006, they moved to Rosedale and Marinus helped on the farm as needed, while Mark and Shannon continued with the farm.

Marinus enjoyed telling stories to whoever would listen and waving at people as they passed by. Marinus also enjoyed cooking for others, among them Sunset Manor residents and visiting with his friends and fellow TOPS members.

He passed away in Cheam Village, in Agassiz on Feb. 25th, 2010. He is survived by loving wife Corrie; Children: Ria (Hank) Kostering, John Schryver, Audrey Schryver. Grandchildren: Mark (Shannon) Kostering, Brian Kostering, Laura Kostering, Angela (Darrell) Warbrick, Shelley (Derek) Enns, Chris Schryver, Steven Schryver and Patrick Schryver. Great-grandchildren: Lisa Kostering, Riley Kostering, Wallace Warbrick and Warren Warbrick and extended family.

Condolence will be held Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010 from 7:30 - 9:00 pm at McLean’s Funeral Services, 45651 Lark Rd., Chilliwack (Vedder Crossing), B.C. A Funeral Service will take place Thursday, March 4th, 2010 at 10 am in the Free Reformed Church, 45471 Yale Rd., Chilliwack, B.C. (by The B.C. Access Centre). In lieu of flowers, donations to the B.C. Cancer Society would be appreciated.
