Marie Therese Debray late of Chilliwack, BC passed away on July 9th, 2006 in Chilliwack, BC at the age of 85.
A TRIBUTE TO MARIE.
We are gathered together to honor you Marie,
To celebrate the 85 years since first you came to be.
December 22nd was the day that you were born,
The year was 1920 in Duck Lake, Saskatchewan.
You would be the eldest of a family of ten,
And be a very busy girl taking care of them.
You traveled to Stobart school with Victor by the hand,
To start your education in that quiet prairie land.
Then as the years went rolling by, with Raymond by your side,
You moved to Prince Albert, a short time to abide.
The year of 1944 would see you move again,
To settle down in Chilliwack and there you would remain.
The quiet street of Broadway is where you made your home,
A short time in your parent’s house, then moved into your own.
Then in 1959 you moved back across the way,
To 9088 Broadway Street where you lived out your days.
You’ve always opened up your home to anyone in need,
The young or old, the sick or well, the family or friends.
The endless loads of laundry you have washed and hung to dry,
The bread you’ve baked, the food you’ve bought to fill your freezer high.
The long old kitchen table with the family gathered’round,
The endless stacks of scrumptious food and laughter’s joyful sound.
A heart should hang upon your door for all the world to see,
A giant heart that stands for love, for “You Are Love” Marie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church on Friday, July 14, 2006 at 2:00pm.
Marie is survived by sisters Juliette (Clement) Perret of Duck Lake, SK, Gilberte Dussault of Chilliwack, BC, Jean (Glyn) Johnson of Terrace, BC, a brother Frank (Edy) Folliet of Salmon Arm, BC, 42 nieces and nephews along with 62 grand nieces and nephews.
Sheri Britt and her son Brandyn from North Carolina are the relatives from the furthest distance away.
