Marie Enns passed away on January 16th, 2010 at the Bradley Centre in Chilliwack at age 103 years. She was born September 29th, 1906 in Chortitza, Ukraine.

Marie is survived by her children Ted (Muriel) Enns, Rita (Ercyl) Boake, and Hardy (Bernice) Enns, grandchildren Bonnie (David), Calvin (Sherry), Randy (Sharon) Tanya, Lara (Chris) Nic, 13 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, sister Helene Siemens, sister-in-law Rose Epp and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband George in 1978, 2 brothers and one great-grandson.

Our mother immigrated to Canada in 1923 as a young lady settling in Rostern, Saskatchewan. She met her George in 1928 and they married in Hauge, Saskatchewan in 1930. Their first child was born there. In 1934 they made a move to BC and purchased raw acreage on South Sumas Road. Two more children arrived at the farm. They did mixed farming until 1969. When the farm work became too much, the farm was sold. They moved to Chilliwack, first to a house, then an apartment.

Marie has enjoyed 76 years as a member of her Church, which was an important part of her life. She participated in many Church projects and activities throughout the years.

Special thanks to the staff and care givers at the Bradley Centre for all your kindness these past 3 years. And to Dr. M. Madill for being a special friend to Marie.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 23rd, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from the First Mennonite Church Greendale, 42369 South Sumas Road.

Memorial donations may be made to the Bradley Centre, 45600 Menholm Road, Chilliwack, V2P 1P7 or the First Mennonite Church in Greendale, 42369 South Sumas Road, V2R 4W3.
