Maria Vriends, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2010 at her home at the age of 84 years.
Marie was born in Ousterhout, Holland on August 13, 1925, eldest of 12 children. She was married to Franz Vriends on April 13, 1948. They resided in Belguim for 14 years before immigrating to Canada in October of 1952. They resided for a short time in Prince Albert Sask. before making a permanent residence in the Fraser Valley.
Marie enjoyed travelling, reading and crafts. But most of all she loved to spend time with her family. Marie had many friends in the Chilliwack and Agassiz area and will be deeply missed.
Marie will be lovingly remembered by her children; Martin (April), Marian (Bob) Penner and daughter-in-law, Deena Vriends; grandchildren, Sherri, Joff, Patrick, Stephen, Mark, Sarah, Tyler and Clinton; and 9 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Franz and son Peter.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 8909 Mary Street, Chilliwack.
