January 11, 2005

Born in Leiden, Holland on February 20, 1902, Maria died on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005 at the Waverly, in Chilliwack. Her two children and one grand daughter were at her side.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Ted in 1980, and two children.

She is survived and will be deeply missed by her loving children Betty (Paul) Lauzon, of Chilliwack and Bill Newhouse of Penticton, as well as four grandchildren, Debbie (Mark) Ego, Dan (Karen) Lauzon, Diane (Jeff) Gillespie of Kamloops and Darlene (Jeff) Redman of Mission, as well as nine great-grand children.

Prayer services will be held at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, 8909 Mary St., Chilliwack at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, with Funeral Mass being held at St. Mary's on Friday, Jan. 14th commencing at 10 a.m. Celebrant Fr. Gary Gordon. A reception will follow the funeral service. Interment will take place in Hope, B.C. following the reception.

This feisty little woman, who lived to be nearly 103, owed her long life to being very active: a walker, a cyclist, and a swimmer. Even in the past few years, when confined to a wheelchair, she could be seen motoring up and down the halls of the Waverly.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice, made in memory of Maria, would be appreciated.

Arrangements in care of McLean's Funeral Services.
