Margaret Hill

(May 31, 1921 - May 4, 2017)

We are very sad to announce the passing of Margaret Hill, of Chilliwack, BC. Mom died on May 4, surrounded by her loving family. Margaret was predeceased by their son Rob Hill (2013) and grandson, Steve Hill (2004). After over 70 years together, Margaret is mourned by her beloved husband Austin Hill, and by daughters Susan Taylor (Lech) and Cyndy Hill, and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Hill, grandchildren Jeff (Shari) and Lindsay Hill and John (Paty) and Mark (Giselle) Taylor and great grandsons Emilio and Oliver Taylor, will also miss their Grandma/Nanny. Mom will be remembered for her beautiful gardens, tended with unending patience and joy, her delicious meals, prepared with care for family and friends, her love of reading mysteries, and as a challenging opponent in scrabble, played on her iPad. Mom could “google” anything and continued to read the newspaper daily, right up until a few days before her death, always making sure she did the crossword before anyone else could grab it. Mom grew up in Guelph, Ontario, moving to Peterborough, where Dad had his veterinary practice, and they raised their three children. Summers were spent at the wonderful family cottage on Gold Lake. She and Dad shared a love for the outdoors, and traveled extensively after they retired, spending hours birding and enjoying the beauties of nature. The family would like to thank the many caregivers and friends who helped Mom be a little more comfortable in her last few weeks, and in particularly Dr. Alandra Quayle, for your guidance and support to our whole family. Cremation has taken place and a private family gathering to celebrate Mom’s life, will occur at a later date.
