Margaret Davies McRAE

April 13, 2008

(Nov. 18, 1914 - April 13, 2008)

Margaret was born to Evan and Sarah Davies in Etruria, South Lacashire, England.

The family moved to Vancouver where she completed her high school and trained as a music teacher. She taught music in Vancouver at Kitsilano School for many years before moving to Agassiz about 1970.

Margaret married July 16, 1958 and is survived by Kenn the Donald McRae. She was very proud of her singing ability and was often compared to Kathleen Farrier, a well-known English Contralto. She was active in the Agassiz arts community and was an accomplished painter and lithographer. Many of her Christmas cards were hand-painted or linocut scenes around their farm.

She lamented the lack of blood relatives but is survived by many nieces and nephews who will miss her insights, talks about her father and, her earthy humour.

She was very proud of her Welsh blood. The family would like to express its appreciation to the four aides (Mary Murphy, Mary Gibson, Laura Evans, and Judy Marsh) who eased her last years and gave loving care. We would also like to thank Dr. MacIntosh for his emphatic care.

There will be a family service and her ashes will be interred in the Mountain Cemetery, Agassiz. A service will be held at Friendship House, Morrow Rd., Agassiz, at 1:00 p.m. on April 26, 2008.
