Mabel Elizabeth TRANTER

Mabel Tranter, late of Chilliwack, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2006 at the the Bradley Centre, Chilliwack Hospital in her 95th year. She was born in Okotoks, Alberta, August 30, 1911.

Mabel is survived by her son Neil (Isabelle) Tranter and daughter Wendy Cook; grandchildren: Karen (Chi) Wong, Mark (Linda) Tranter and Michelle (Neil) Chalker; six great-grandchildren, extended family and many dear friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Desmond and brothers, Art, Don and Will Sawyer.

Mabel was born into a happy family of three brothers.

She married Desmond but sadly was widowed in 1950. She moved to Vancouver to live with her parents. She worked at Woodward’s Park Royal until her retirement at age 72. Mabel loved to travel with her brother and sister-in-law, Art and Ann Sawyer. And she loved to go to bingo with her friends once a week.

She was an active member of her bowling club in West Vancouver and bowled with friends every week. Mabel’s later years were spent in Chilliwack with her daughter Wendy, until she entered the Bradley Centre.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 30, 2006 at 2:00 pm from the Chapel of Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral home, 45865 Hocking Ave., Chilliwack, Pastor Tim Rowan officiant.

If family and friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or to the Arthritis Society for Osteoporosis/Osteoarthritis Research.
