(nee Thiessen)

Passed away peacefully at age 82 on Friday, May 23, 2008 at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, surrounded by family.

“Toots” was born at home on Dec. 15, 1925 near Aberdeen, SK.

She is remembered and greatly missed by her husband Don Jones; her children: Laura Metz, Liane, Bobbie (Chuck) Hamm, Lynnie, James (Darlene) Grill, Phyllis (Butch) Tippett; her grandchildren: Trina (David) Long, Judah, Rejina Grill; her great-grandchildren: Madison and Ethan Long, and Rory Zion (Karen) Brown; also by her step-children: Wendy (Irwin) Sucee, Dan (Vicky) Jones; step-grandchildren: Johnny (Dawn Marie) Sucee, Angie Sucee; and step-great-grandchild, Wyatt.

She was predeceased by her first husband Harry and son John Grill; her siblings John Thiessen, Helen Schroeder, Katherine Schroeder, Julius Thiessen, Barney Thiessen, Ike Thiessen, and step-daughter Pat St. Jean.

To know Lynn (Toots, Aeffa, Eva) was to love her. She was fun loving, open-hearted, funny, generous, and a real people-watcher. She left a legacy of love to her family which she led by example.

Coming from a large family of 11 siblings, she had deep rooted family values which she taught to her own family. She was hospitable and warmly welcomed people to her home, whether long-time friends or strangers.

Her long life was filled with many experiences, both happy and difficult. She grew in grace and wisdom through both. She miraculously survived an aneurysm in 1997 but tragically lost a hard-fought battle with a second one.

A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, June 2, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Henderson’s Funeral Home in Chilliwack.
