Lydia Maria JANZEN

Lydia Maria Janzen’s earthly chapter of her life closed on March 15, 2003 in the McIntosh Lodge in Chilliwack. She was born in Russia on January 9, 1916.

Lydia is survived by her son Herb (Anita) Janzen and grandchildren, David (Michelle), Debra (Kevin) Chrenek, Mona (Jeff) Whitt, and Eric (Teresa) Janzen, along with great-grandchildren, Casey, Ben, and Sam Whitt, Nicole, Veronica Chrenek, and Elizabeth Janzen; son Rudy (Deena) and grandchildren, Tracey (Andre) Grenier, and Jeffery and Timothy Janzen; and son Ted (Bev) Janzen and grandchildren, Paul (Kristy), and Michelle (Theo) Martens, and great-grandson Thomas Martens. She is also survived by her siblings Mary Barg, Peter Janzen, Edna Swinnard, George Janzen, and Anne Bergen; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Lydia was predeceased by her beloved husband John (J.B.); her parents, Heinrich and Maria Janzen; and by her siblings, Henry, Helen, John, and Jack.

A funeral service was held Friday, Mar. 21, 2003 at Eden Mennonite Church, 46551 Chilliwack Central Rd., Chilliwack, with interment in Rosemary, Alta. on Monday, Mar. 24, 2003. A graveside service will be held at the Rosemary Mennonite Church at 1 p.m.

Lydia will be remembered by her family and friends as a gifted Sunday school teacher, as a mentor for young people, as a committed co-worker, and as a skilled crafter.

She said, “I remember all of you fondly, I wish God’s blessing on the church and may it grow to God’s glory. God bless my family and may they be a blessing to all they meet.’’
